Okoboji, Iowa, July 2011

For anyone who has traveled to the landlocked Iowa, the idea that they have a Maritime Museum often provides some good laughs. If you have ever traveled to Okoboji, you know there is something special about this town. I'm lucky that my aunt and uncle have a crazy awesome cabin there, which is a home base for many silly times. I went to Boji for the Fourth of July and luckily escaped most of the fireworks that usually annoy me in my hometown.

Here is my photo journal of what my vacation was like:

I began my adventure checking out Flea Markets. There was lots of very very interesting stuff. I ended up buying a set of horns to spice up my VW but unfortunately for me, they would not attach. I suppose that's just as well since it's illegal. Bollocks, I say.

The LBJ hat was quite interesting and seemed in quite good shape, which made me wonder as to its true origins...

Found these awesome cameras at another Flea Market in one of the buildings. No, I did not buy any but I appreciated them as I took a picture with my phone. Ah, technology.

Hey, Polish jokes! Who doesn't love them? The Polish. And that's not a joke. But as a quarter Polish, I can take a joke.

I may not be a big gear-head but I know a pretty car when I see one. And yes, I drool.

At the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I learned what an Erlewine guitar is:

The Hall of Fame:

Beatles Albums... this was only a sampling of the collection, mind you!

This, boys and girls, is a Wurlitzer jukebox. I had fun picking out songs and watching the records drop. Woo!

Why, yes, this a commemorative edition Elvis Presley Whiskey Decanter.

I'll drink to that! I wouldn't actually drink these because they are probably kind of old. And scary. And bad tasting. But I like the concept?

And here we are, at the Okoboji Maritime Museum

Some of the stuff on the wall comes from old features at Arnold's Park Amusement Park.

Get your motor runnin'!

Nuff said

I'm pretty sure this a joke

We also spent sometime kicking back and relaxing. I found this jet ski bears a resemblance to Lilo & Stitch. And, yes, I then took pictures of all of the other jetskis because they all started to have faces.....

Maybe it was the Landshark beer I was drinking....

This man lights up my life....

This lady looks rough around the edges....

And what vacation is complete without a bonfire? Even if it's July, it can be a little chilly. No, my feet are not on fire. ;)

So, this is a look at what Okoboji, Iowa presents to you.... or at least what it presented to me. If you ever find yourself in the area in the summer months, it is highly recommended... only if you know how to have a good time!
