First Trip to New Mexico

I have not posted in my travel blog for 13 months! This doesn't mean that I haven't traveled since then but I haven't had any BIG trips.

This summer I went to New Mexico for the wedding of a friend of a friend and I traveled a few hours by car to my aunt and uncle's awesome cool cabin for the Fourth of July. I'll show off some New Mexico pics but I'll keep you in suspense for my Okoboji pictures... seeing as my next big trip won't be until the Spring ;)

Ruidoso, Alto and Lincoln, New Mexico
The beginning of June 2011 was just as good as time to visit New Mexico, except the Fire Danger was set to EXTREME.
Only YOU can prevent Forest Fires....

I'm pretty sure right around the time we left New Mexico is when the fires started :(

The wedding had a gorgeous backdrop though:

I did find the locals to be a bit frightening sometimes:

But there was some neat history in the small town of Lincoln, New Mexico:
as well as a bustling economy:

I think we traveled by rental car but it may have been a spaceship:

I was intrigued to find salt rock lamps in Ruidoso because I had purchased one in Chile as a wedding gift for some friends:

Overall, the scenery was very nice:
And I was happy to meet the local celebrity:
Danielle and Smokey (with bulletholes! What a BA!)
Tune in again soon to see my photo journal of my time at the awesome awesome cabin where I spent my Fourth of July 2011! :)
